More than 40 members of the Westminster College Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will perform in five southern churches from Jan 11-18.
"We will be singing at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, N.C. where a Westminster alumnus Stephen Talley is the music director," said Dr. Robin Lind, director of choral activities at Westminster College. "That same day we will travel to Brevard, N.C., where we will also perform at the Brevard Davidson River Presbyterian Church."
The group will then travel to South Carolina singing at the First Presbyterian Church in Beaufort, and the First Presbyterian Church on Hilton Head Island, where Westminster Board of Trustee member Jerome Neff attends.
The choir will also perform at the Rosewell Presbyterian Church in Rosewell, Ga.
"Our final performance is at the Manassas Presbyterian Church in Virginia, which is where one of our singers, Elissa Curtis, and her family attends," Lind continued. "We will also be sightseeing in Atlanta and Washington, D.C.
The choir program includes "Alleluia" by Bach, "O Altitudo" by Asola, "O nata lux" by Lauridsen, "Salvation is Created" by Chesnokov, "Non Nobis Domine" by Quilter, and "We'll Shout and Give Him Glory" featuring students Tom Oyer and Jaimee Davis on the piano.
The Chamber Singers will sing two numbers by Mendelssohn, "Bouree" by Bach, "Stand by Me" by Hogan, and "Come to Me" by Gawthrop.
