Westminster College Offers Personal Enrichment Classes

Westminster College announces several personal enrichment and leisure courses for community residents. Continuing Education classes and seminars are non-credit and are open to all interested individuals. Formal admission to Westminster College is not required.

Yoga classes, which are scheduled Mondays and Wednesdays from noon-12:45 p.m., are designed to get students to learn the value of stretching and increase their flexibility.

Beginner Yoga classes, which are scheduled Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m., are designed for students new to yoga or those that would like a refresher on the basics.

Yogilates classes, which are scheduled Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m., is an integrated system of Pilates and Yoga that enhances core strength, balance, and flexibility through breath and flow, the building blocks for overall fitness.

Power Vinyasa Yoga classes, which are scheduled Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7, p.m., provides an excellent workout with strong poses to enhance strength, stamina, and total body and mind harmony.

All Yoga classes are offered in four sessions with Session A beginning Jan. 12, Session B Feb. 16, Session C March 22, and Session D April 26. Classes are taught by Kathy Birkholz in the Down Under of Eichenhauer Hall.

Junk Yard Art is scheduled Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 6-8 p.m. in 306 Patterson Hall, and is taught by Laura Stuart. In this class, students will be introduced to the use of found objects as a recycling option for creating their own "art," and will create a light switch cover our of provided junk.

Scrapbooking is scheduled in two sessions with Session A Feb. 19 & 26, and Session B March 18 and 25 from 6-9 p.m. in 310 Patterson Hall. This class is designed to learn creative ways to document personal history through pictures, and is taught by Denise Martone.

Handwriting Analysis is scheduled Wednesdays, April 7, 14, 21, and 28, from 6-8 p.m. in 310 Old Main 310, and is taught by Dr. Peter Mancino. This course will study handwriting to gain an insight about the personality of the writer.

Genealogy I is scheduled Saturdays, March 27 and April 3, from 10 a.m.-noon in 308 Old Main, and is taught by Vonda Minner. This course introduces the tools available to help begin a family tree.

Genealogy II is scheduled Saturdays, April 24 and May 1, from 10 a.m.-noon in 308 Old Main, and is also taught by Vonda Minner. This class is an in depth look at previously performed searches from Genealogy I, or for students who have accumulated information and would like to explore findings.

Kids Computer Course is scheduled for grades one-three Saturday, April 24, and grades 4-6 Saturday, May 1. Both courses take place from 9 a.m.-noon in 214 Patterson Hall, and are taught by Mary Zahniser. Lessons are intended for young minds, bodies and attention spans.

Introduction to Computers is scheduled Tuesday-Thursday, Feb. 17-19, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in 214 Patterson Hall, and is taught by Mary Dado. This course is designed specifically for anyone who is new to the world of personal computers.
