Mathematics Honor Society Held Induction Ceremony

Westminster College’s chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon mathematics honor society held its annual induction ceremony at Gallo’s Italian Villa in March.

KME, founded in 1931, promotes the interest of mathematics among undergraduate students of mathematics and other closely related fields who have maintained standards of scholarship, have professional merit and have attained academic distinction.

This year’s inductees are Charles Cratty, Anthony Groves, Kia Howe, Sumer Kassim, Isaiah Morgenstern, Mark Patton and Christijana Vucenovic.

KME officers leading the ceremony were Brittany Erbe, president; Richard Beaudoin, vice president; and Stephanie Burkus, treasurer. Additional chapter members are Valerie DeSilva, John Griebel, Nicholas Hainsey, Amanda Kowalczyk, Julie Powell, Brandon Saber and Rachel Simko.

Faculty from Westminster’s Department of Mathematics and Computer Science who attended were Dr. Natacha Fontes-Merz, associate professor and interim KME adviser; Dr. Carolyn Cuff, professor; and Dr. David Offner, assistant professor.

Charles Cratty, a mathematics major, is a son of Donald and Natascha Cratty and a graduate of Slippery Rock Area High School.
Brittany Erbe, a mathematics major, is a daughter of Michael Erbe and a graduate of Panther Valley High School.
Stephanie Burkus, a mathematics major, is a daughter of Michael and Teresa Burkus and a graduate of Connellsville Area High School.
Amanda Kowalczyk, a biology and mathematics major, is a daughter of Adam and Pamela Kowalczyk and a graduate of Greensburg-Salem High School.
Mark Patton, a computer science major, is a son of Thomas and Karen Patton and a graduate of Mohawk Area High School.
Valerie DeSilva, a molecular biology major, is a daughter of Jeffrey and Judi DeSilva and a graduate of Greenville High School.
John Griebel, a computer science major, is a son of John and Jackie Griebel and a graduate of Keystone High School.
Julie Powell, an accounting major, is a daughter of Gary and Susan Powell and a graduate of Meadville Area High School.
Rachel Simko, a physics major, is a daughter of David and Lisa Simko and a graduate of Laurel High School.
Nicholas Hainsey, a computer science and mathematics major, is a son of Allen and Bonnie Hainsey and a graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School.
Brandon Saber, a mathematics major, is a son of Heidi Mook and a graduate of Knoch High School.
Anthony Groves, a computer science major, is a son of Keith and Debra Groves and a graduate of Trinity High School.
Christijana Vucenovic, a mathematics major, is a daughter of Bob and Evelyn Vucenovic and a graduate of West Middlesex Area High School.
Isaiah Morgenstern, a physics major, is a son of Paul and Susan Morgenstern and a graduate of West Middlesex Area High School.
Kia-Anne Howe, a mathematics major, is a daughter of James and Elizabeth Howe and a graduate of West Middlesex High School.
Sumer Kassim, a mathematics major, is a daughter of Ahmad Kassim and a graduate of Poland Seminary High School.
Richard Beaudoin, a mathematics major, is a son of Richard and Janet Beaudoin and a graduate of Tuscarora High School.
