Presbytery to Install New Westminster College Chaplain

The Shenango Presbytery will install the Rev. James Mohr as the fourth Chaplain of Westminster College Sunday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

The ceremony includes music from College Organist Dr. Elizabeth Harrison, the Chapel Praise Band, and a special performance by the Westminster College Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Robin Lind.

Participants include: Westminster College President R. Thomas Williamson; Keturah Laney, chapel assistant at Westminster College; Rev. Pamela Malony, associate pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Sharon and moderator of the Shenango Presbytery; Rev. Douglas Hughes, pastor of the Third Presbyterian Church in New Castle; Rev. William Stone, pastor of the Neshannock Presbyterian Church in New Wilmington; S. Kipley Haas, elder at Northminister Presbyterian Church in New Castle and professor of physical education at Westminster College; Dr. Darwin Huey, elder at the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church and chair and associate professor of education at Westminster College; Tom Robinson, elder at First Presbyterian Church in New Castle; and John Libert, elder at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Washington Presbytery and senior speech communications major from McDonald.

Mohr comes to Westminster from St. Andrews United Presbyterian Church in Butler where he has been pastor since 1995. While at St. Andrews, he moved through a successful $750,000 building renewal program; helped to develop a free community meal project that serves over 100 meals each Wednesday night; created the first downtown Butler Christian Preschool; and hosted the first Christian counseling service in his church.

Mohr served four years at the First United Church in Silver Creek, N.Y., and four years in the First Presbyterian Church in St. Petersburg, Fla. He earned his undergraduate degree from Muskingum College, and his master's from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

Mohr and his wife, Jill, reside in New Wilmington. They have two grown children, Angie and Katie, who are currently in college, and a Springer spaniel named Piper.
