Michelle Long, a junior music education major at Westminster College, will perform a flute recital Saturday, March 6, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

Long's program includes "Andante et Scherzo" by Louis Ganne, "Sonata V. BWV 1034 in e minor" by J.S. Bach, "Introduzione e Allegro, Opus 40" by Luigi Cortese, and "Trio, Opus 119, for Two Flutes and Piano" by Frederich Kuhlau.

Accompanying Long on the piano is Kathryn Miller, a senior music education major from Turtle Creek, and on the flute is David Tessmer, adjunct professor in the Westminster College Music Department.

While at Westminster, Long has participated in the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Woodwind Trio, Flute Choir, Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Education Association, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Kappa Delta Pi. She has also played in the pit orchestras of the Westminster Opera Workshop and Chapel Drama, as well as featured soloist with the Westminster Horn Choir. Long was selected to participate in the Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Band two consecutive years.

She maintains a private flute studio at Westminster College through the Intern Teaching Program, and has tutored students in music theory in the Westminster College Learning Center. She was selected as one of 42 Westminster students for induction into "Who's Who Among Students at American Colleges and Universities."

During the summers, Long is a flute instructor for the West Allegheny High School Marching Band, and plays at the St. Columbkille Church in Imperial.

Long is a daughter of William and Margaret Long in Imperial, and a graduate of West Allegheny High School.
