Westminster Faculty to Give Oboe Recital Nov. 13

Shawn Reynolds, adjunct professor of oboe and English horn at Westminster College, will give an oboe recital Thursday, Nov. 13, at 3 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

 The program includes Goossens' "Concerto for Oboe and Piano," Schwanterner's "Black Amemones," and three Silvestrini Etudes for unaccompanied oboe "Hotel des Roches noires a Trouville," "Sentier dans les bois," and "Le ballet espagnol."   The program concludes with a Brazilian Couplet, "Danzon" and "Afro," accompanied by guest artist Tim Shade on the jazz trombone and euphonium.

 In addition to his teaching duties at Westminster, Reynolds coaches the student chamber ensembles and is a member of the Westminster College Faculty Woodwind Quintet.  He earned his undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University and his master's from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.  Reynolds is the associate director of bands in the Liberty Local Schools, and performs with the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra, the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, and the W.D. Packard Band of Warren.  He has also performed with the SORG opera and the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Hamilton and Lebanon Orchestras.
