Westminster College Announces Science Olympiad Winners

Westminster College hosted over 850 students from 50 area schools at the Northeast Regional Science Olympiad competition April 2. 

Eleven teams advanced to the state competition Friday, April 23, at Juniata College. 

The top six teams in the junior high category were:
1) Shady Side Academy
2) Kane Area Middle School
3) Clarion Area Junior High School
4) Indiana Area Junior High School
5) Laurel Junior High School
6) DuBois Area Middle School.

The top five in the high school category were:
1) DuBois Area High School
2) Montour Area High School
3) Warren Area High School
4) Kane Area High School
5) Laurel Area Senior High School.

The Science Olympiad is an international non-profit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science, and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education by both teachers and students.   The Science Olympiad tournaments are rigorous academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of individual and team events, which students prepare during the year.
