Westminster College music education majors Leaha Parady and Shawn Sisler will present their senior recital Sunday, Oct. 30, at 3 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. The program is free and open to the public.
Parady will perform piano selections by Brahms, Bach, Mozart, Rachmaninoff, and Chopin that range from intricate preludes of the Baroque period to complex etudes of the Romantic period.
Parady has been a member of Westminster's Symphonic Band, Titan Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Choir, and Musical Pit Orchestra; has provided piano accompaniment for Women's Chorus, Chamber Singers, and Men's Chorus; has performed with the Wind Ensemble; and was the pianist for Chapel Drama. She is an active member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, American Choral Directors Association, Pi Sigma Pi honor society, and serves as vice president of Mu Phi Epsilon music honor society.
At Westminster, she studies with Dr. Nancy Zipay DeSalvo, associate professor of music, who will provide accompaniment for both students at the recital.
Parady is a daughter of Kevin and Marie Parady of Edinburg and a graduate of Union Area High School.
Sisler's portion of the program includes saxophone selections by Creston, Bach, Demersseman, and Beytelmann. The compositions include transcriptions and original music written for saxophone covering the Baroque period to the modern period.
Sisler has been a member of Westminster's Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Titan Marching Band, Men's Chorus, Concert Choir, and Saxophone Quartet. He was the winner of Westminster's 2011 Phi Mu Epsilon concerto and aria competition, earning a spot as featured soloist with Westminster's Orchestra, and participated in the Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Band as principal alto and soprano saxophonist. He is a member of Theta Chi fraternity.
At Westminster, he studies with adjunct music faculty James Flowers.
Sisler is a son of Randy and Sharon Sisler of Lancaster, S.C., and a graduate of Waterloo High School.
