Band Director to Speak at Faires Faculty Forum

Posted on Thursday, October 27, 2011

Dr. R. Tad Greig, Westminster College associate professor and director of bands, will present "Band, the Four-Letter Word!" at Faires Faculty Forum Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 11:40 a.m. in Orr Auditorium.

Greig will provide a brief history and illuminate the artistry that has developed in band literature to broaden listeners' musical horizons beyond the works of Fillmore, Sousa, and marching.

Greig, who serves as chair of Westminster's Department of Music, joined the faculty in 1995.  He earned an undergraduate degree from Grove City College, master's degree from Youngstown State University, and Ph.D. from Kent State University.

Contact Greig at (724) 946-7279 or email for additional information.

Faculty Forum was established in 1990 by Dr. Barbara Faires, Westminster professor of mathematics emerita, during her term as Dean of the College and Vice President for Academic Affairs.  Faculty members from all disciplines volunteer to present lectures on their current research, artistic productions, and/or scholarship of teaching and learning.  Each forum presents new ideas with innovative lecture techniques.
