Dr. Thomas Oberst, Westminster College assistant professor of physics, is the lead author of an article published in the October edition of The Astrophysical Journal, the authoritative peer-reviewed journal for astrophysics research in the U.S.
The research is co-authored by colleagues from Cornell University, the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and the University of Colorado at Boulder.
"The article presents novel observations of the Carina Nebula, one of the largest and closest star-forming regions in the Milky Way," Oberst said. "The observations were conducted at submillimeter wavelengths, which enabled us to track important physical properties of the region not visible to other telescopes."
