Celebrity Series to Open Season with "Whose Line" Comedians

Posted on Tuesday, September 13, 2011

Westminster College's Celebrity Series opens its 2011-2012 season with Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood of the Emmy-nominated television series "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" Saturday Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

Mochrie and Sherwood, who have been touring partners since 2002, take contributions from the audience to create funny and original scenes in their show.  The interactive performance draws from some of the most popular segments of "Whose Line," including "Scenes from a Hat" and "Sound Effects," where the audience is asked to provide a soundtrack for the comedians' actions.

Mochrie's big break in comedy came in the mid-1980s when he joined the Second City Toronto troupe.  He has appeared in a number of television shows and commercials and starred with his wife, Debra McGrath, in the completely improvised film Expecting.

Sherwood, also a Second City alumnus, was a regular for three seasons on the British version of "Whose Line" and appeared on "The Drew Carey Show" and "To Tell the Truth."

Tickets, ranging from $25-$43, are available by calling the Celebrity Series box office at (724) 946-7354.  Additional information on this and all of the season's shows is available here.
