Gianni Downs, Westminster College assistant professor of theatre, earned "Best Set Design 2010" honors by the Riverfront Times for the set he designed for the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis' production of Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment.
He is also nominated for a Kevin Kline Award in Outstanding Set Design for that production.
A reviewer at broadwayworld.com described "the marvelous scenic design of Gianni Downs, which offers up about 30 dingy doors at varying levels (a number of which are actually utilized), as well as a scalable heap of tables and chairs."
Downs, who joined the Westminster faculty in 2010, earned an undergraduate degree in theatre arts with a fine art minor from the University of New Hampshire and a master of fine art in scenic design from Brandeis University.
