Dr. Yehuda Peled, Westminster College Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence, was a co-presenter at a Jan. 25 international conference on "Opening Gates in Teacher Education: Education and Teacher Education in the Age of Globalization."
Peled presented "Using WIKI in Teaching by Faculty" with Dr. Olzan Goldstein electronically from New Wilmington and Israel via Elluminate software. The presentation focused on the influence of information and communication technologies in education.
According to Wikipedia, a WIKI is a website that allows the creation and editing of any number of interlinked web pages via a web browser using a simplified markup language or a "What You See Is What You Ge"" text editor. Wikis are often used to create collaborative works.
Peled, who is head of the Information Studies Department at Western Galilee College in Israel, is teaching at Westminster for the 2010-2011 academic year as part of the Fulbright Program, a federally-funded exchange program administered by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and those of other countries.
