Communication Studies Professor Elected to State Office

Dr. Colleen Burke, Westminster College assistant professor of communication studies, was elected vice president of the Pennsylvania Communication Association for 2010-2011.

Burke has been a member of the organization since 1999, serving as chair of the Communication Education Interest Council (2009-2010) and co-chair of the Communication Education Interest Council and the Interpersonal/Organizational Communication Interest Council (2008-2009).

As vice president, Burke will write and circulate the organization's newsletters; assist with recruitment of new members through an advertising and promotion campaign; and plan and execute the 2011 annual conference to be hosted by Westminster in October.

The Pennsylvania Communication Association, founded in 1939, promotes teaching, research, service, and development in all areas of human communication.

Burke, who has been with Westminster since 2002, earned undergraduate and master's degrees and Ph.D. from Duquesne University.
