Westminster Faculty Forum Continues with Discussion on Learning Chemistry with Technology

Posted on Friday, February 4, 2005

Dr. Timothy Sherwood, assistant professor of chemistry at Westminster College, continues Faculty Forum with "The Facilitation of Teaching and Learning in Chemistry with Technology: A Paradigm Shift" Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 11:45 a.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater located in the McKelvey Campus Center.

"Contemporary instrumentation enables the enhancement of learning by allowing the merging of lecture and laboratory through rapid acquisition, analysis, and sharing of chemical data," Sherwood said.  "This integration format can expedite analysis and create more time for discovering, thinking, and learning in the classroom."

Sherwood, who has been with Westminster College since 1999, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Sciences in Philadelphia, and his Ph.D. from the University of Delaware.

Faculty forum, established in 1990, serves as a venue for the exchange of ideas and information among Westminster College faculty.  Speakers present their research, teaching ideas, lectures, performances, special programs, and uses of technology to keep faculty informed about the work of colleagues from many disciplines.

The event is free and open to the public.  For more information, contact Sherwood at (724) 946-7296 or e-mail sherwota@westminster.edu.
