Dr. Carolyn Cuff, professor of mathematics at Westminster College, recently presented a paper at the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) meeting held in Atlanta.
"I presented the Nutritional Data of Crackers,' which presents interesting statistical aspects of data collected from the nutritional labels of cracker boxes," Cuff said. "The data set illustrates statistical concepts that instructors usually show using made up data."
Cuff just finished a term as chair of the Special Interest Group of the MAA in Statistics Education. The MAA is a national professional group of approximately 27,000 mathematicians focusing on undergraduate mathematics education.
Cuff, who has been with Westminster College since 1989, received her undergraduate degree from Westminster College, and master's and Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University. Cuff's previous research, "How Do You Stack Up?" was published in the November issue of the Colleges and Mathematics Journal.
