Ten Westminster College students and three faculty/staff participated in Westminster Cares Day April 18.

The event, part of Global Youth Service Day, was coordinated by Jeff Ledebur, Americorps*Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA) in Westminster's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

Westminster volunteers partnered with Lawrence County Community Action Partnership to clean apartments, paint rooms and hallways, sort canned food, and complete yard work at the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County in New Castle.

"Westminster Cares Day was a great start to what we hope will be an annual day of service and volunteering in Lawrence County," said Dr. Terri Lenox, Westminster associate professor of computer science and co-director of the Drinko Center.

In addition to Ledebur and Lenox, the students were accompanied by Dr. Patrick Krantz, Westminster associate professor of education and co-director of the Drinko Center, and Chuck Woratschek, Lenox's husband.
