Westminster College's Celebrity Series announced its 2010-2011 season, which includes concerts by The Oak Ridge Boys and Amy Grant.
The Oak Ridge Boys, sponsored by Springfield Restaurant Group, will kick off the season Saturday, Sept. 18, bringing the four-part harmonies, upbeat songs, and high-energy delivery that has earned the group 10 gold and two platinum albums and four Grammy Awards.
"An Evening with Amy Grant," sponsored by First National Bank, is on tap for Saturday, Oct. 16. With over 30 million albums sold, Grant is not only the best-selling Christian artist of all time, but also one of the most celebrated artists in pop music.
Jim Brickman brings his Christmas concert to the stage Tuesday, Nov. 30. The show, sponsored by Giant Eagle, captures the spirit of the season in a performance that features solo piano, vibrant vocals, warmth, and humor.
Franc D'Ambrosio's Broadway, sponsored by Huntington Bank, is scheduled for Wednesday, March 23, 2011. D'Ambrosio, who is best known as "the world's longest-running Phantom," appeared as Anthony Corleone, Al Pacino's opera-singing son, in Godfather III.
1964...The Tribute will wrap up the season Friday, April 15, 2011. Sponsored by Jameson Health System, The Tribute has been called "the best Beatles tribute on earth."
All shows are at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. Season subscriptions are currently on sale and single-show tickets will go on sale July 1.
A special children's show, Strega Nona the Musical, is slated for Tuesday, Oct. 19, and is not part of the season subscription. Based on Tomie DePaola's beloved books, the production is ideal for children aged four-nine. Sponsors for this program include Dr. Richard Ribarevski, D.M.D., and Family Medical Care of Lawrence County's Dr. James L. Gardner III, M.D., and Dr. Mary Tanyel, M.D.
