Choruses to Present Spring Concert

The Westminster College Men's Chorus, Women's Chorus, and Women's Chamber Ensemble will present "An Afternoon of Song" Sunday, April 18, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Women's Chamber Ensemble's portion of the program includes: "Set Me as a Seal;" "Alleluia" from Brazilian Psalm; "On Wings of Song;" "Shir Ha-Shirim;" and "Sleep, My Child."
Highlights of the Men's Chorus presentation include: "Tshotsholoza," a traditional South African freedom song, featuring soloist Todd Slobodnyak, Andrew Fritz on jembe, and Lane McFarland on congas; "Ave Maria," conducted by McFarland and featuring soloists Benjamin Goodreau, Anthony Pezzelle, and a trio of Will Armentrout, Kevin Tomb, and Matt Wilson; and "Steal Away" with Aaron McAfee on saxophone.

The Women's Chorus will perform: "The Road Home;" "She Weeps over Rahoon" with Jennie Smith on English horn; "The Moon is Distant from the Sea;" "Sing Me to Heaven;" and the African American spiritual "Good News!"

The combined choirs will conclude the program with Wilhousky's arrangement of "Battle Hymn of the Republic."

Accompanists are Tricia Glorioso (Women's Chamber Ensemble), Daniel Goffus (Women's Chorus), and McFarland (Men's Chorus).

The Women's Choruses are under the direction of Mr. Kris Harper, Westminster College adjunct music faculty.

Harper earned his undergraduate degree from Westminster College and a master's from Youngstown State University.

The Men's Chorus is directed by Dr. Robin Lind, Westminster associate professor of music and director of choral activities.

Lind, who has been with Westminster since 2000, earned her undergraduate degree from the College of Idaho, a master's from the University of Oregon, and Ph.D. from the University of Utah.
