Amnesty International to Host Speakers on "Violence Against Women"

The Westminster College chapter of Amnesty International will co-sponsor three activists to discuss "Violence Against Women" Wednesday, April 14, at 6 p.m. in the Berlin Lounge of the McKelvey Campus Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Speakers are: Jacqui Patterson, co-founder of Women of Color United and director of the Climate Change Initiative with the NAACP; Mary Day Kent, Mid-Atlantic policy and advocacy director for CARE; and Melissa Stellfox, education and training supervisor with the Lawrence County Crisis Center.

The speakers will discuss violence against women on a local, national and international level, as well as the recent introduction of the International Violence Against Women Act and its implications for women everywhere.

Co-sponsors of the presentation are CARE and Americans for Informed Democracy.
