Faculty, Students, and Alumna to Perform with Seraphim Community Chorus

The Seraphim Community Chorus, under the direction of Westminster College adjunct music faculty Mr. Kris Harper, will present Mendelssohn's "Elijah, Op. 70" Sunday, April 11, at 2 p.m. at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Canfield, Ohio. The concert is open to the public and a freewill offering will be collected.

Several Westminster students will perform with the chorus:

Sophomore music education major Natalie Bok will play trombone in the chamber orchestra. She is a daughter of Sandra Bok of Sharpsville and a graduate of Sharpsville High School.

Junior psychology and music major Katie DiCola will play French horn in the chamber orchestra. She is a daughter of Linda Beraduce, Boardman, Ohio, and Thomas DiCola, Boardman, and a graduate of Boardman High School.

Junior music performance major Patrick Dolan will play clarinet in the chamber orchestra. He is a son of Gerard and Christine Dolan of North Wales and a graduate of Roman Catholic High School.

Freshman music education major Daniel Goffus will be a featured soloist. He is a grandson of Stephanie Diffendal, Jackson Center, and James Diffendal, Bethel Park, and a graduate of Lakeview High School.

Junior neuroscience major Dana Griesmer will play bassoon in the chamber orchestra. She is a daughter of Michael and Donna Griesmer of Canfield, Ohio, and a graduate of Canfield High School.

Senior music education major Sarah Ortz will play French horn in the chamber orchestra. She is a daughter of William and Connie Ortz of Petersburg, Ohio, and a graduate of Springfield Local High School.

Freshman molecular biology major John Ryniawec will play clarinet in the chamber orchestra. He is a son of Carla Carr, Oakdale, and John Ryniawec, Imperial, and a graduate of West Allegheny High School.

Senior music and Christian education major Jennie Smith will play oboe in the chamber orchestra. She is a daughter of Kendall and Julia Smith of Trophy Club, Texas, and a graduate of Western Hills High School.

Soloists for the oratorio include: tenor William Ambert, Westminster adjunct music faculty; soprano Dr. Anne Hagan Bentz, Westminster associate professor of vocal studies; and contralto Susan Toth Shafer, Westminster graduate and former artist-in-residence.

Westminster College organist Kathryn Davison Miller will provide accompaniment. Westminster adjunct music faculty Jeff Bremer will play bass in the chamber orchestra.

This special presentation of the oratorio is part of Seraphim's tenth anniversary as a chorus in the greater Mahoning Valley. A dinner following the concert will be held in St. Michael's fellowship hall. Tickets are required for the dinner and are available at (330) 707-2144.
