Faculty Presented at National Meeting

Westminster College faculty Dr. Terri Lenox, associate professor of computer science and co-director of the Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and Dr. Sandra Webster, professor of psychology and faculty development officer, co-authored a presentation at the Association of American Colleges and Universities meeting March 25-27 in Philadelphia.

The presentation, "Institutionalizing 'Hurricane-Strength' Undergraduate Research Programs," was part of the session on "Supporting Faculty in High-Impact Practices."

The session discussed how to build undergraduate research programs that can endure the changes and challenges common to institutions of all sizes. Lenox and Webster represented the context of a liberal arts college curriculum/faculty development initiative.

Two additional co-authors also participated: John Mateja, program officer for the Course, Curriculum and Laboratory Improvement Program of the National Science Foundation; and Naomi Yavneh, associate dean of the Honors College and director of undergraduate research at the University of South Florida.

Lenox, who has been with Westminster since 1999, earned an undergraduate degree from Grove City College and master's and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Webster, who joined the faculty in 1983, earned undergraduate and master's degrees and Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
