Dr. Amy Camardese, Westminster College associate professor of education, and Dr. Sherri Pataki, Westminster assistant professor of psychology, attended an international faculty workshop at Western Galilee College in Akko, Israel, in June.
During the workshop, Pataki gave a panel presentation, "Peace Studies at Westminster College and Its Role in Education Related to Diversity."
Camardese and Pataki were among 11 faculty from seven campuses who participated in panels, workshops, and tours of the area. The purpose was to strengthen ties between faculty at Western Galilee College and those in universities and colleges in the Partnership 2000 Central Area Consortium.
The workshop provided a meeting ground for faculty members to hear about research being conducted, as well as an opportunity to meet colleagues with similar interests.
Dr. Gideon Fishburn, president of Western Galilee College, recently visited Westminster. He met with Westminster President Dr. Richard Dorman and interested faculty to discuss further opportunities for faculty and student collaboration between the two institutions.
Camardese, who has been with Westminster since 2001, earned an undergraduate degree from Ohio University, a master's from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Ph.D. from Kent State University.
Pataki, who joined the Westminster faculty in 2004, earned an undergraduate degree from Allegheny College and a Ph. D. from Carnegie Mellon University. She serves as the coordinator of Westminster's Peace Studies program.
