College to Welcome Two Distinguished Alumni Lecturers Oct. 9

Two Westminster College alumni--Kelly Varlotta Horn and E. Richard Ogrodowski--will present Distinguished Alumni lectures Friday, Oct. 9.

Horn, a 1987 Westminster graduate with a degree in English and math concentration, will speak to Dr. Suzanne Prestien's "Introduction to Public Relations" class and to Dr. Deborah Mitchell's "Introduction to Literary Studies" class.

Horn, a human resources leader for PriceWaterhouseCoopers, is credentialed as a senior professional in human resources and a PriceWaterhouseCoopers certified coach. She has been with the company, the world's largest professional services firm, in a variety of roles for 20 years, responsible for managing and developing others in the organization, including those in leadership roles. Her experience encompasses all areas of human resources, including organizational development; learning employee relations; human resources strategy and design; executive compensation; recruitment; diversity; and performance management.

Ogrodwoski, a 1998 Westminster magna cum laude graduate in economics and political science, will present "Reflections on Law School and a Career in the Law" at 4:15 p.m. in Patterson Hall room 230.

Ogrodowski graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh's School of Law and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and the United States District Courts for the western district of Pennsylvania, northern and southern districts of West Virginia, and eastern district of Michigan.

Ogrodowski is a founding partner of Goldsmith & Ogrodowski, LLC, in Pittsburgh, where his practice is focused on civil litigation.

Annually since 2006, Ogrodowski has been nominated by his peers and subsequently named a Pennsylvania Rising StarSM in transportation/maritime law by Philadelphia and Law & Politics magazines.

Ogrodowski will also speak to a class in "Constitutional Law: Government Powers" about his firm's areas of practice.
