Gary Swanson, Westminster College director of audio visual services, represented colleges and universities on a six-member panel for the InfoComm International Webinar Sept. 10.
Swanson provided ideas on how colleges and universities worldwide can participate in AV Week 2009, an international celebration of the audio visual industry Oct. 18-24. InfoComm International, the AV trade association, and its members sponsor workshops, presentations, career fairs, and other events to showcase the audio visual industry and recognize AV professionals who educate, manufacture, design, and install AV technology.
"We are honored to be selected as the international representative for colleges and universities by InfoComm," Swanson said. "It is a wonderful tribute to the top-notch work our students have done over the years and their enthusiasm for making these events so successful."
Cheryl Regan, InfoComm International's director of membership programs, is pleased with the accomplishments of Westminster's AV Services Department: "Members like Westminster College are shining examples of the professionals in the AV industry. They share their expertise, especially during AV Week, and raise visibility for this exciting, growing industry that enhances communications everywhere."
Swanson has directed Westminster's AV Week celebration since 2006. Past events included tours; consumer product and job information; training sessions and state-of-the-art technology demonstrations; recycling initiatives; special award presentations; "Make a Difference" drives; and outreach programs to area school districts and non-profit organizations.
"The planning and coordination for this year's AV Week is in full swing," Swanson said. "We're eager to reveal our line-up to the public in early October."
Swanson, a 1988 Westminster graduate, joined the Westminster staff in 1990.
