Dr. Edward Cohen, Westminster College associate professor and chair of the Department of Political Science and Sociology, is the author of "Constructing Power Through Law: Private Law Pluralism and Harmonization in the Global Political Economy" published in the December issue of the Review of International Political Economy.
"This article is a product of my research on the efforts to harmonize aspects of business law across countries," Cohen said. "I argue that political pressures and considerations, not technical legal issues, are the primary forces shaping the success or failure of such attempts. I try to provide insight into the ongoing politics of constructing a regulatory framework for the global economy."
Research for the article was supported by a Watto Award Research Grant.
Cohen, who has been with Westminster since 1996, earned an undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College and master's and Ph. D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
