Dr. Charlene Klassen Endrizzi, Westminster College professor of education, gave a presentation at the 98th annual National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) conference Nov. 21 in San Antonio.
As one of 15 NCTE 2007-2008 authors, Klassen Endrizzi's session, "Getting at the Real Questions: Inquiring with Students and Families," focused on her recent book Becoming Teammates: Teachers and Families as Literacy Partners. She shared highlights of her collaborative research with Westminster graduate and undergraduate students over the last 12 years.
"Audience members considered various stages for building more productive family-school partnerships with children's first learning partners, from simple home surveys and literacy newsletters to more complex family literacy gatherings," Klassen Endrizzi said.
Klassen Endrizzi, who has been with Westminster since 1993, earned undergraduate and master's degrees from Fresno Pacific College and a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona.
