Westminster College senior music education majors Diana Peet and Kevin Shields will present their senior recital Sunday, Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.
Peet is a daughter of Robert and Sharon Peet of Pittsford, N.Y., and a graduate of Pittsford Sutherland High School.
Her portion of the program includes trumpet selections by Johann Hummel, Flor Peeters, Vincent Persichetti, and Joseph Haydn. She will be assisted by Jeffrey Wachter, Westminster College adjunct music faculty, on the piano.
Peet is a member of the Titan Marching, Symphonic, and Jazz Bands; Wind Ensemble; Concert Choir; president of Show Choir; and Mu Phi Epsilon music honor society. She is active in Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association (PCMEA), Student Government Association, Theatre Westminster, Student Westminster Admissions Team, Student Life and Athletic Council, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lawrence County. She is a choreographer for Dance Theatre and a sister of Kappa Delta sorority. She will be student teaching in the Union Area School District in New Castle under the supervision of John Westcott, a 2004 Westminster graduate, in the spring.
Peet studies trumpet at Westminster with adjunct music faculty Andy Erb, a 1996 Westminster graduate.
Shields is a son of Dana and Teresa Shields of Eldred and a graduate of Otto-Eldred High School.
His portion of the program includes saxophone works by C.P.E. Bach, Jerome Naulais, Darius Milhaud, and Alexander Glazounov. He will be accompanied on piano by Dr. Nancy Zipay DeSalvo, associate professor and chair of Westminster's Department of Music.
His performance endeavors include: Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, Marching Band, Saxophone Quartet, Concert Choir, Men's Choir (accompanist), Opera, Musical, and Theatre Westminster. He is also involved in Fresh Start, ACDA, PCMEA, Mu Phi Epsilon, president of Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership fraternity, field commander for the Titan Marching Band, and vice president of Theta Chi fraternity. He will be student teaching at Mercer High School under the direction of Travis Weller, director of bands, in the spring.
