The fall choral concert of the Westminster College Women's Chorus and Men's Chorus is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Women's Chamber Ensemble's portion of the program includes: "O Pastorelle, Addio" from Andrea Chénier; "Nigra Sum" ("I am Black"); "You are My Rock/Pslam 18" featuring bass soloist Anthony Nathal; "Like a Tree;" and "Benediction."
Highlights of the Men's Chorus presentation include: "Pretty Saro" with soloist Matthew Wilson; "Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight" conducted by Kevin Shields; and "Polly Wolly Doodle" featuring Melinda Perttu on fiddle, Joshua Sarchet on percussion, James "J.P." Scanga on string bass, and Shields on piano.
The Women's Chorus will include: "Deep River" with Amber Kunder on flute; "Beidh Aonach Amárach" conducted by Katlyn Schroll; and "The Curlew's Song" with Kunder on flute.
The combined choirs will conclude the program with "Open Thou Mine Eyes" by Jack Rutter and Jack Schrader's arrangement of Andrae Crouch's "Soon and Very Soon."
Susan Davidson is accompanist for the Women's Chorus. Shields accompanies the Men's Chorus.
The Women's Choruses are under the direction of Mr. Kris Harper, Westminster College adjunct music faculty.
The Men's Chorus is directed by Dr. Robin Lind, Westminster associate professor of music and director of choral activities.
Lind, who has been with Westminster since 2000, earned her undergraduate degree from the College of Idaho, a master's from the University of Oregon, and Ph.D. from the University of Utah.
Harper earned his undergraduate degree from Westminster College and a master's from Youngstown State University.
