Religion Professor's Article Published

Posted on Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Dr. Bryan Rennie, Westminster College Vira I. Heinz professor of religion, is the author of "Mircea Eliade: 'Secular Mysticism' and the History of Religions" that was published in the journal Religion, vol. 38, #4.

"It is a great pleasure to finally see this work in print in a form more widely available to British and American scholars, as Religion is one of the most widely distributed journals of religious studies in English on both sides of the Atlantic," Rennie said. "This particular issue is dedicated entirely to the thought of Mircea Eliade and contains articles by many of the most distinguished scholars in the field."

"An earlier form of this article was published in Origini Journal of Cultural Studies, a rather obscure Romanian journal known to Eliade scholars and historians of religion on the European continent," Rennie added.

Rennie, who has been with Westminster since 1992, earned an undergraduate degree, master's and Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He has authored four books and numerous articles on Eliade.
