Westminster Senior Music Major to Give Recital

Benajmin Abel, a senior music major at Westminster College, will give a recital Friday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

Abel, accompanied by adjunct music professor Jeff Wachter on the piano, will sing a variety of numbers.  The program includes "O del mio dolce ardor" by von Gluck, "Widmung" by Schumann, and  "Beau Soir" by Debussy.  "Behold, I Shall Tell You a Mystery" and "The Trumpet Shall Sound" from Handel's Messiah will be accompanied on the trumpet by Cyndi Mancini, a junior music education major from Mckees Rocks.

The program continues with number by Mozart, Gounod and Weill's "Let Things Be Like They Always Was" from Street Scene.  Able's baritone voice and alto Darci Kuhlber, a sophomore music education major from Grove City, will sing a duet, "The Next Ten Minutes" from The Last Five Years.  Abel's final selections are from Ralph Vaughan Williams' The House of Life.

Abel is a son of Steven and Barbara Abel from Westminster, Colo., and a graduate of Norwin High School.  While at Westminster, Abel has participated in a varity of performances including Detective Story, Crazy for You, and Anything Goes.  He is active in the Chamber Singers, and the Concert Choir, and he also landed leading roles in three Opera Workshops.
