Dr. Michael Aleprete, Westminster College assistant professor of political science, presented a paper and was a panel discussant at "Bridging Multiple Divides," the 49th annual International Studies Association (ISA) convention in San Francisco March 26-29.
In the paper, "Continuities in the U.S.-Russian Relationship Since 1991," Aleprete believes assessing the prospects for the future of U.S.-Russian relations requires scholars and policy makers to look beyond the foreign policy innovations of the current presidential administrations to identify and examine continuities in the foreign policies pursued by these two states since the end of the Cold War.
This is the eighth year of the past nine that Aleprete has attended and presented at ISA's annual conference.
Aleprete served with six others on the panel "Globalization and the Post-Communist States' Foreign Policy."
Besides presenting his own work at the convention, Aleprete also served as the chair and a discussant on "The Challenges of Conflict Resolution in the Post-Communist States" panel.
Aleprete, who has been with Westminster since 2007, earned an undergraduate degree from Duquesne University and a master's and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
