Westminster College's Language in Motion program will host 160 high school students from the Wilmington Area and Beaver Area school districts for the second annual Foreign Language, Interdisciplinary Day April 22.
"'What is a Hero?' is this year's theme and will incorporate Latin, Spanish, and French in a full day of presentations and activities led by Westminster College students," said Milagros Swerdlow, Westminster College lecturer in Spanish and Language in Motion coordinator.
Westminster students are: Rachel Conn, Darcee Davidson, Adam Griffith, Morgane Longello, Jaime Rodriguez-Raigoza, Jenny Sitter, and Christopher Stone.
Providing assistance and expertise will be the school districts' language teachers; Dr. A. Dwight Castro, Westminster College professor of classics; and Dr. Jacob Erhardt, Westminster College professor of German emeritus.
Language in Motion is an innovative outreach program that gives study-abroad returnees, international students, and upper-level language students the opportunity to create language and cultural activities for presentation in K-12 language, social studies, and other classes where culture can be studied.
The Language in Motion program at Westminster College is sponsored by the Department of Modern Languages, the Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and the Heritage Chair of Humanities.
