Dr. R. Tad Greig, Westminster College assistant professor of music and director of bands, will present at a session of the Connecticut Music Educators state conference April 4 in Hartford.
Greig's presentation, "Warm-ups: Training for Future Success," examines the importance of the warm-up portion of the music rehearsal process. He will be joined by the Norwalk High School Jazz Ensemble, an all-state guest performance ensemble, who will perform the various exercises.
"I am fortunate that this fine ensemble, directed by Jeffrey Smith, will take time from their performance schedule to assist in this presentation," Greig said.
Greig gave this presentation at the Delaware state music conference and Dr. Robin Lind, Westminster College associate professor of music and director of choral activities, was a guest presenter at that conference. Greig also presented a session on "Effective Use of Time in the Daily Music Schedule" at the North Eastern Ohio Education Association conference last fall. In addition to his lectures and sessions, Greig will be an adjudicator at three Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) large ensemble festivals this spring and was the guest conductor for the PMEA District Five Honors Band in January.
"It is always an honor to share ideas with fellow music educators from various states," Greig added.
Greig has written numerous articles for the PMEA Journal and has presented many sessions at the PMEA state conference. The Westminster College Wind Ensemble, under his direction, has also been a guest performance ensemble at the PMEA conference.
Greig, who has been with Westminster since 1995, earned an undergraduate degree from Grove City College, a master's from Youngstown State Unviersity, and Ph.D. from Kent State University.
