Sheila Barnhart, a senior music performance major with piano concentration, will present her senior capstone recital Saturday, April 5, at 3 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Barnhart, a graduate of West Greene High School, is a daughter of Rick and Darleen Barnhart of New Freeport.

She has studied piano since the age of five with various teachers, most recently with Dr. Nancy DeSalvo, associate professor and chair of the Department of Music at Westminster. Barnhart is a member of the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers; participated in the Women's Chorus, Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra; and was in the pit orchestras for Kiss Me Kate, Carmen, and the Opera Westminster production of L'Amour, L'Amour, L'Amour.

Barnhart is vice president of Phi Omega chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, a co-ed music service fraternity; a teacher with the Westminster College Music Intern Teaching Program; and teaches private lessons throughout the summer. She actively participates in chamber music on campus and is accompanist for the Women's Chorus, Women's Chamber Chorus, and soloists.

Performed on the Margaret L. Young Mansell '29 Steinway concert grand piano, Barnhart's recital includes Ludwig van Beethoven's "Sonata in F minor, Op. 57" ("Appassionata") and Claude Debussy's "Estampes." Additional pieces include works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Frederic Chopin, and Sergei Prokofiev.
