Seven Westminster College students and their adviser attended the 32nd annual MidSouth Philosophy Conference at the University of Memphis (Tenn.) Feb. 22-23.
Dr. David Goldberg, Westminster College assistant professor of philosophy, accompanied the group. "This conference contains both an undergraduate and a professional conference," he explained. "There were at least 75 institutions, some international, represented at the professional conference, while the undergraduate represented at least 15 schools."
Christopher Stone, a Westminster College senior individual interdisciplinary and philosophy major, presented "Medieval, Muslim, & Postmodern?" at the undergraduate conference. Goldberg is his faculty adviser.
"Our students attended many of the professional lectures and were very active during the Q&A sessions, often engaging the speakers with insightful questions," Goldberg said. "Saturday night, at the request of one of our students and after the conference was over, we had dinner together and discussed at length our impressions of this year's MidSouth Philosophy Conference. The group agreed that attendance was insightful and helped position, positively, the education that they were receiving from Westminster College."
Also attending and joining the group were Christie Grewe and Ben Nelson, 2006 Westminster graduates currently living in New York City.
