Mathematics Students Attend Regional Meeting

Eight Westminster College students and four faculty attended the 10th annual regional Student Paper Meeting hosted by the Ohio XI Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon at Youngstown State University March 1.

The purpose of the meeting was to give undergraduate students the opportunity to present results of their projects and research and to listen to topics of interest to other undergraduate students in the region.

Andrew Polack, a senior computer science and mathematics major, presented "NURBS Curve Interpolation of Artistic Data." Polack is a son of Samuel and Barbara Polack of Abingdon, MD, and a graduate of Edgewood High School. Dr. John Bonomo, Westminster associate professor of computer science, is his faculty adviser.

Co-presenters with Polack of "2008 MCM/ICM-COMAP Modeling Problems" were:

Bryan Bischof, a senior mathematics major, is a son of Steve Salvatora of Gibsonia and Diana Salvatora of New Kensington. He is a graduate of Valley High School.

James Bryan, a junior mathematics major, is a son of Leigh Bryan-Taylor and James Bryan, both of Greensburg. He is a graduate of Greater Latrobe High School.

Other Westminster students attending were:

Ryan Brolley, a senior mathematics major, is a son of Timothy and Lynne Brolley of Butler and a graduate of Knoch High School.

John Cochran, a senior mathematics major, is a son of James and Catherine Cochran of Pulaski and a graduate of Wilmington Area High School.

Anthony Colwell, a senior mathematics and philosophy major, is a son of David Colwell of North Huntingdon and Antonette Colwell of Pittsburgh. He is a graduate of Central Catholic High School.

Benjamin Jarrett, a senior mathematics major, is a son of Kenneth and Therese Jarrett of Harmony and a graduate of Slippery Rock Area High School.

Jared Ronan, a senior mathematics major, is a son of Thomas and Barbara Ronan of New Castle and a graduate of New Castle High School.

Westminster College mathematics faculty accompanying the students were: Dr. Carolyn Cuff, professor; Dr. Natacha Fontes-Merz, assistant professor; Dr. Warren Hickman, professor; and Dr. Pamela Richardson, assistant professor.
