Associate Professor to Speak about Service Learning

Posted on Thursday, September 13, 2007

Dr. Terri Lenox, Westminster College associate professor of computer science, will present "What I've Learned from Service Learning" Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 11:40 a.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater in the McKelvey Campus Center. The event is free and open to the public.

"I will be discussing the service learning courses of the 2006-2007 academic year," Lenox said.

"Last year was the first year Dr. Virginia Tomlinson, director of the Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, sponsored the Service-Learning Faculty Fellows (SLFF) at Westminster. Ten faculty members offered 12 courses plus a revised Christian education program for 154 students. I acted as the coordinator last year and will continue this year with six new SLFF."

Lenox has been with Westminster since 1999. She received her undergraduate degree from Grove City College and her master's and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Faculty Forum, established in 1990, serves as a venue for the exchange of ideas and information among Westminster College faculty. Speakers present their research, teaching ideas, lectures, performances, special programs, and uses of technology to keep faculty informed about the work of colleagues from many disciplines.
