Westminster College Offers Personal Enrichment Classes

Westminster College announces several personal enrichment and leisure courses for community residents. Continuing Education classes and seminars are non-credit and are open to all interested individuals. Formal admission to Westminster College is not required.

Personal fitness classes are scheduled in three sessions: Session A runs from Sept. 17 through Oct. 12; session B runs from Oct. 15 through Nov. 9; and session C runs from Nov. 12 through Dec. 14. Classes are held in the dance studio in Old 77.

Vinyasa Yoga classes run all three sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. Yoga postures build, are well placed, and lead to a balanced, complete feeling at the end of the practice.

Low Impact/Pilates classes, which run all three sessions on Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m., are a good way to improve fitness level by combining stretching with fat-burning aerobics.

Line Dancing is scheduled Mondays, Oct. 22, 29, and Nov. 5 and 12, from 7-8 p.m. in the Old 77 dance studio. Combine fitness and fun while learning basic steps plus Boot Scootin' Boogie, Electric Slide, and more.

Computer classes are designed to meet the needs of the beginner to the accomplished user and are held in room 214 of Patterson Hall.

Computer Basics runs Tuesday and Thursday, Oct. 2 and 4, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. This workshop will promote comfort and confidence with the computer in a relaxed atmosphere.

Microsoft Publisher runs Monday and Wednesday, Nov. 5 and 7, from 7-9 p.m. Discover a flexible, easy-to-use program for a variety of printable pieces, including brochures, business cards, newsletters, and calendars.

Introduction to Microsoft Word is scheduled Tuesday and Thursday, Oct. 9 and 11, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. This course is designed to provide an introduction to word processing, including creating and saving documents, letters, and envelopes.

Microsoft Word runs Tuesday-Thursday, Oct. 23-25, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Learn to create, modify, edit, save, print, open and close documents, letters, memos, reports, and more. Topics include toolbars, menus, keyboard shortcuts, and word art.

Web Design and Development is scheduled Monday and Wednesday, Oct. 8 and 10, from 7-9 p.m. This course will guide the student through the process of effectively designing and assembling a Web site.

Internet is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Learn common Internet terms, Web sites, browsers, and how to surf the World Wide Web to find almost anything.

E-mail is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 18, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. This hands-on workshop introduces the student to using e-mail to stay in touch with family and friends quickly, easily, and in a cost-effective way.

Introduction to Access runs Tuesday-Thursday, Oct. 16-18, from 7-9 p.m. This course teaches creation of databases and tables for storing and manipulating data.

Intermediate Access runs Tuesday-Thursday, Oct. 23-25, from 7-9 p.m., and teaches advanced query techniques, along with the creation and use of customized forms and reports.

PowerPoint is scheduled for Monday and Wednesday, Nov. 12 and 14, from 7-9 p.m. Learn to include clip art, graphs, tables, and charts using this versatile presentation program.

Microsoft Excel is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays, Nov. 6, 8, 13 and 15, from 7-9 p.m. Learn to use spreadsheets to set up budgets, track expenses, and organize information.
