Westminster College will host Linda Hooper, principal of Whitwell Middle School in Tennessee, and one of her students Monday, Sept. 10, at 8 a.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.
The middle school was the subject of the documentary "Paperclips." Teachers at the middle school, concerned about the lack of diversity in the small rural town, began a study of the Holocaust so students could learn about individuals who are different. The resulting service learning study impacted the lives of the middle school students, the surrounding community, and brought international attention to the town.
The event is sponsored by Westminster's Department of Education in cooperation with the Youngstown Jewish Community Center. It is free and open to the public.
