Westminster College will host a weaving demonstration by artist Sigrid Piroch Thursday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m.
Piroch will set up a loom in the Art Gallery adjacent to Orr Auditorium for the event, which is free and open to the public. She will answer questions about the basics of weaving and the pieces she is currently exhibiting.
Piroch operates a cooperative weaving studio near Pittsburgh.
"Hand weaving is a vital element in my life, like fire from a furnace. I cannot imagine being anything other than a shuttle weaver producing hand woven art. I love everything about the process of creating opulent cloth. It is the challenge of fabricating illusion in fiber, whether simple or complex in construction," Piroch said.
