Posted on Tuesday, May 29, 2007

Six local students graduated Saturday from Westminster College through the Lifelong Learning Program (LLP).

They are:

Tim Kelly of New Wilmington, who majored in business administration;
John Edmiston of New Wilmington, who majored in business administration;
Nicole McQuiston of Sharon, who majored in administration;
Kelly Masson of Transfer, who majored in English;
Stacy Kollar of Masury, Ohio, who majored in political science;
Carly Roman of Masury, Ohio, who majored in elementary education.

LLP is an undergraduate study program designed for adult learners. Although the curriculum is composed of regular College offerings, the evening program offers students the opportunity to take accelerated course work. Each class is offered on a one-night-a-week basis to accommodate busy work schedules with day classes also available.

All classes carry full college credit and are taught by regular faculty members. In addition, many students may be able to receive company reimbursement from their places of work.

Forty undergraduate majors are available at Westminster. Accounting, business administration, English and public relations are four majors that can be completed entirely through evening course work. Three years of course work toward the education major can be done in the evening, while other majors can be completed by combining evening classes with a few day courses. Those who have previously attended college may be able to transfer credits.

An LLP student is a young working adult or anyone 24 years of age or older who has a high school diploma or a GED and wishes to pursue an education at the college level. Entrance exams are not required.

The Lifelong Learning/Continuing Education Office is located in the McKelvey Campus Center in rooms 267 and 268. LLP Packets with application information and a schedule of fees are available by calling (724) 946-7353.

Flexible curriculum, student computer access and small class size are just a few of the many benefits. Call and schedule an appointment today with LLP Director Carol Yova, or visit www.westminster.edu/llp for more information.
