Westminster College Celebrates the Life of Martin Luther King Jr.

Westminster College will celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. with special services Friday, Jan. 19, and Sunday, Jan. 21. Both services will take place in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

Jan. 19 - the Chapel Worship Service at 11:40 a.m. will feature the Rev. Terrence Harrison, associate and youth pastor of the Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ, Farrell. Harrison is also the director of the Mercer County Fathers Network, an intervention specialist for the Neighborhood Association, and a member of the Farrell School Board. He spent 28 years in the United States Air Force.

Following this service there will be a birthday cake celebration in honor of King in the TUB located in the McKelvey Campus Center.

Jan 21 - Vespers at 7 p.m. continues the celebration with featured speaker, the Rev. Dr. James Harris, theologian and adjunct professor at Wilberforce University. This service also includes: the Rev. James Mohr, Westminster College chaplain; the Rev. Jeannette Hubbard, Westminster Director of Diversity Services; the Westminster College Gospel Choir under the director of Manny Henderson; organist Kathryn Davison Miller, and Jason Perry, a junior music education major from Shippenville, on the carillon.
