The Westminster College radio station, WWNW - 88.9 FM, continues its 26-year tradition of playing all Christmas music, commercial free, through Christmas Day.

"Christmas music is one thing that unites generations," said Dr. David Barner, chair of the Department of Communication Studies, Theatre, and Art. "The songs that I grew up with are still popular and are still the most requested."

The station will offer a variety of holiday music, along with holiday trivia, holiday facts, local Christmas activities, local children's Christmas greetings, and local news headlines.

"A lot of effort goes into our Christmas music selection," Barner said. "We add 30 new songs every year and use several research services to help choose our music. This year we added contemporary Christian artist versions of religious carols and this provides a fresh new sound."

Even though WWNW covers most of Lawrence County, people outside the area can listen to the station in one of two ways: via www.titanradio.net ; or via the New Castle News "Jingle" page at www.ncnewsonline.com.

"We are excited that the New Castle News has chosen Titan radio as their Christmas music source," Barner said. "I am very pleased with the growing relationship between the broadcast program at Westminster College and the New Castle News. The New Castle News is an established news organization that can help our students understand what stories are important to our listeners. In turn, the Westminster broadcast program can help the News as they expand their Web presence."
