Dr. Eileen Morelli, Westminster College associate professor of education, recently presented at the annual meeting of the Keystone State Reading Association (KSRA).
Morelli's presentation was titled "What Can Preservice High School Teachers and Urban High School Students Learn About Reading and Writing from Each Other?"
"The presentation was directed toward university professors for content area literacy and high school teachers," Morelli said. "It was a discussion of my service learning work with a ninth grade, urban high school in Akron, Ohio, and my Education 351 students."
KSRA, an affiliate of the International Reading Association (IRA), is a state-wide organization in Pennsylvania comprised of individuals who are engaged in reading instruction, literacy development, and the encouragement of lifelong reading habits. The theme of this year's conference was "Planting the Seeds of Literacy."
Morelli, who has been with Westminster College since 2002, earned her undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University, master's from Valparaiso University, and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
