Computer Science Students Work on Service-Learning Project

Posted on Monday, November 20, 2006

Seven Westminster students met with representatives from the Lawrence County Community Action Partnership (LCCAP) in a round table discussion designed to find how the students could help redesign the LCCAP Website.

"The students in the Fall 2006 Systems Analysis class and Spring 2007 Software Engineering have opted to work on a service-learning project," said Dr. Terri Lenox, associate professor of computer science. "We met as part of the regularly scheduled class with representatives Emily Rowe, Kristen Lombardo, and Georgiana Luce. The students are still in the process of collecting information about LCCAP that will make the Website more user friendly for the clients and for internal use."

The LCCAP is composed of three agencies that seek "to involve the community in assessing local needs and attacking the causes and conditions of poverty." These agencies are: Lawrence County Social Services, United Community Services of Lawrence County, Inc., and Allied Coordinated Transportation Services, Inc.
