Mathematics Professor Discusses Project NExT

Posted on Tuesday, November 14, 2006

Dr. Natacha Fontes-Merz, Westminster assistant professor of mathematics, spoke at Faculty Forum Nov. 15 on Project NExT.

"I talked about Project NExT, which is a faculty development program for first and second-year faculty in mathematics," Fontes-Merz said. "Last year I and the 69 other members of Project NExT attended workshops in Albuquerque, San Antonio, and Knoxville. We discussed various topics including ways to improve the teaching of mathematics, how to stay active in research, and topics of interest to beginning faculty."

Faculty Forum, established in 1990, serves as a venue for the exchange of ideas and information among Westminster College faculty. Speakers present their research, teaching ideas, lectures, performances, special programs, and uses of technology to keep faculty informed about the work of colleagues from many disciplines.

Fontes-Merz, who has been with Westminster College since 2004, earned her under graduate degree from Oberlin College and her master's and Ph.D. from Kent State University.
