Westminster College to Host Amici Trio Performance

The Amici Trio will perform Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

The group's program includes "The Ghost Trio" by Beethoven, "K 564" by Mozart, and "D minor" by Mendelssohn.

Included in the piano trio are Nancy Zipay DeSalvo, assistant professor of music at Westminster College, Michael Gelfand, professor of music at Youngstown State University, and John Wilcox, director of the Dana Chamber Orchestra.

DeSalvo, who plays piano in the trio, teaches piano and music theory at Westminster.  She performs various solo recitals across the country, and serves as a professional accompanying pianist and chamber music collaborator.  Her guest appearances include performances with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

Gelfand, who plays cello in the trio, is the principal cellist of the Youngstown Symphony and the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra, and has performed with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra since 1990.  He has also played with the Cleveland Orchestra, Syracuse Symphony, Paris Chamber Orchestra, Nice Philharmonic, and Cazenovia String Quartet.

Wilcox, who plays the violin in the trio, teaches violin and viola at Youngstown State.  He is currently the concertmaster of the Warren Philharmonic and previously served as concertmaster of the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra.  He has also played with the National Symphony Orchestra.
