The Westminster team included: Alan Higby, a senior computer science and mathematics major; Joseph Katich, a senior physics major; and Bradley Patton, a junior computer science and mathematics major.
During the competition, each of the teams had three hours to work as a group to solve the exam. The problems ranged in difficulty from one that everyone was expected to solve to a couple that were at a level designed to separate out all but the most exceptional students.
West Virginia Wesleyan College took second place, while Mount Union College took third. Each member of the top placing teams received a cash prize.
Higby, also a member of last year's winning team, is a son of Douglas and Linda Higby, 626 Walnut St., Meadville, and a graduate of Meadville Area High School.
Katich is a son of Ronald and Kathleen Katich, 153 Terrace Dr., New Castle, and a graduate of Mohawk Area High School.
Patton is a son of Thomas and Karen Patton, 232 Patton Lane, Edinburg, and a graduate of Mohawk Are High School.
