Dr. Edward Cohen, associate professor of political science and chair of Law PAC (Professions Advisory Committee), will discuss globalization at Faculty Forum, Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 11:30 a.m. in Patterson Hall room 311.
"In the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks, many observers predicted that the great surge of global economic, cultural, and political integration of the 1990s would collapse amidst a revival of nationalism, religious conflict, and war," said Cohen. "In this talk, I will argue that, so far, this prediction has not come true. Globalization continues to transform the world around us, and is an integral part of the war on terrorism' itself. While there are not guarantees that globalization will always be with us, it remains a crucial part of contemporary political, economic, and social change."
Cohen, who has been with Westminster since 1996, earned his undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College, and his master's and Ph.D from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Cohen at (724) 946-7304 or e-mail cohenes@westminster.edu.
